The 3rd North Leeds Romance Academy has begun!

With 12 young people ready to set out on the new academy it is set to be another great course. One of the fantastic new changes to our Romance Academy this time is the welcome addition of 2 peer leaders. Two of the young people who took part in the first course 12 months ago, are doing the course again with me, Hannah and Craig, and sharing their wisdom and experience as well as leading some of the activities.

Some notable dates as we set out on the 12 week course are run jointly with the South Leeds Academy,
Launch Night, 12th October.
Residential at Marrick Priory, 12-14th November
Graduation – 10th December

Working with Hannah Dey from Chapel Allerton Youth Project and Craig Mullen from Leeds Faith in Schools, in North Leeds we are running Romance Academy with six young people aged 13-15 over 13 weeks, held at Carr Manor High School. Working with and mentoring these young people we look at sex and relationships as they build their self-esteem enhanced by sexual delay, based on the tag-line ‘No sex please we’re teenagers.’

Working at the school and with Education Leeds Extended Services has been exciting and brought with it new challenges, but for the 4 young people who graduated the course (March 2010) this has been a great life learning experience.
